MJAA Hall Of Fame
Geroge McCue - 1956-1957 Georgia-Florida League and New York-Pennsylvania League
In 1958 he played in the Eastern league on an A level. 1959 he played in the South Atlantic league on an A level. 1960 he played on the Texas league at an AA level. and then played his last 1961 AA level on the Southern Association league. George was our First President of MJAA and loved working with the boys at baseball. He was a mentor and a great guy to look up to. Not only did the boys learn a lot about baseball, they also learned how to be fine young men in the community.
Bruce Sutter – 1970 Washington Senators
Bruce played 12 years in the Major Leagues and became one of the most dominant relief pitchers of all time, racking up 300 Saves. He was a 6 time NL All-Star, a NL Cy Young award winner, and clinched the 1982 World Series Championship for the St. Louis Cardinals by striking out Gorman Thomas to clinch. His number 42 is retired by the St. Louis Cardinals, and he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2006.
Mitchell Johnson – 1980 Boston Red Sox
Mitchell played 9 seasons as a pitcher in the Boston Red Sox Minor League system
Kris Harmes – 1989
Toronto Blue Jays Kris spent 7 seasons as a catcher and 1st baseman in the Toronto Blue Jays Minor League system.
Mike Sarbaugh – 1989
Milwaukee Brewers Mike played for 6 seasons in the Minor Leagues with the Brewers and Indians organization, and spent 9 seasons as a Manager in the Indians organization at multiple Minor League levels. During this time, he won 5 league championships, and coached a Minor League All-Star team. He was named as a Minor League Manager of the Year in 2011, and has never had a losing record as a Manager. 2015 marks Mike's 2nd year as the 1st base Coach with the Cleveland Indians in the Major Leagues. He was also in the movie Major League 2.
Darin Gorski – 2009 New York Mets
Darin is currently with Las Vegas 51s AAA. He was named an All-Star and a Most Valuable Pitcher in 2011, and a Met's Organization All-Star in 2011 & 2012. Darin is expected to compete for a position in 2015 with the NY Mets Major League Club in Spring Training.
Chris Heisey – 2006 Cincinnati Reds
Chris spent 5 years in the Major Leagues with the Cincinnati Reds before being traded in the 2014-2015 off-season to the LA Dodgers. During 6 years in the Red's Minor League system, Chris hit .294 with 54 home runs, and was named the Reds Minor League Player of The Year in 2009.
Ron Wagner - Mount Joy Athletic Association Coach
Ron spent 40 years coaching players in the MJAA, tending to Kunkle Field, serving in an administrative capacity for the organization, and a myriad of other jobs and tasks to make baseball in Mount Joy an amazing experience for hundreds of boys. He is a legend in Lancaster County baseball, and he is currently on the Board of Directors, and the Baseball Commissioner.
